day 1//life story

Alright, it's time to get these creative juices a'flowing (...that sounded gross, sorry).

Saw this Blog Every Day in May circulating the blogging world and I'm joining the bandwagon.
I am a few days late behind in the challenge, let's just pretend that didn't happen.
I'm needing a little writer inspiration lately and this seems like the perfect fit!
If you're curious as to where this brillant idea came from, check out the button at the end of the post.
Today's challenge (or technically Monday's...)

Story of My Life
(in 250 words or less)

haven't changed a bit..

Born on September 26th, 1992.  A very large and squishy baby.  Grew up with my lovely parents and three sisters.  ("Your poor father, always outnumbered!"  He secretly loves it.)  Move to suburban home at the age of five and live here for most of my elementary school days.  Night games, sister fort days, trampoline parties, and other random childhood memories consist here.  At age twelve, move to another home across town.  Enter the dramatic junior high days.  Braces, rubber bands, glasses; the whole nine yards.  Let's leave it at that.  High school begins and the pre-teen years end.  Some of my finest memories begin here including marching band, homecomings, best friends, Dairy Queen shifts, lacrosse, prom planning, youth group, and boys. Especially one in particular.  Graduation comes all too quickly and college begins.  Freshmen year turns out to be much tougher than I thought with long distance and lost friendships to blame.  But all is well and soon summer rolls around where my favorite job begins as a t-ball coach.  Sophomore year arises and is much busier with tougher classes and desk assistant job.  Love being busy though.  Still makes the decision that transferring to another school might be a better fit.  Fall 2013.  All the while, I fall in love with all things writing and photography.  Mass Comm-Journalism major it is.   Minor unknown.  Still learning more about myself each and every day  and looking forward to where the Lord leads me next.  I’m a work in progress after all.

BOOM.
250 words exactly.
For realz. Count 'em up.

Until TOMORROW everyone!

thrifty thursday//awkvesttime

...Going through my photos and realized I had actually taken these like two weeks ago...oops.
Wasn't really planning on using them since my awkwardness was really shining that day, especially through the camera lens....cause they were kinda turning out like this....

 mid-blink, mid-sneeze, i don't really know.
...

BUT since it has been a while, this is just how it's gonna be. For the sake of the blog. Not my reputation.

FACT: Made this vest from what use to be a Limited Too jean jacket.
(Thank you small child for donating your once outrageously priced coat to become a feautred DIY vest
on my blog, which I purchased for $4. Thank you.)

legs. unshaven.

oh hey there mr.sun

hi.
it's springtime.
and i love it.
cause that means summer is almost here.
and all these papers will be done.
and design projects.
and presentations.
and speeches.
and horrendous finals week.

so for now,
I'm gonna soak up the some much-needed vitamin d and pretend those silly things don't even exist.

thrifty thursday//yellow&blue

spring is a'coming <3
(i think...)

It's pretty pathetic when you are frantically running across campus, shoving people aside, sprinting up the stairs to your dorm room, just so you can grab your camera...to take a picture of the sky.
...
Well after weeks and weeks of depressing gray, it was a wee bit exciting to see some color again.
^

^
^
^
p.s. this picture was taken a few days ago...the weather has now gone bipolar again and is currently snowing/icing outside. Yes, my friends...........ICING.

SPEAKING OF BLUE!
Look at these cute Express jeans!
But what's even cuter?
Being only 5 bucks at Unique.
#prettyawesome

Also, this shirt is AMAZING. like silky, softness to the extreme.
Comfy AND cute.
A combination almost as good as peanut butter & dark chocolate...almost.

This was just a rough day for pics.
Hair was everwhere.
Bangs weren't behaving (little buggers...)
And while posing, the janitorial staff decide to all walk by, making me feel even more awkward than a girl posing for her roommate with a camera in the basment of her hall.
Oh wait ....

shirt: thrifted ($3)
jeans: thrifted ($5)
shoes: Target

Time to go thrifting and purchase your winning spring combinations yourself!
Happy Thrifting! :)

its the big 5-0!

Happy 50th Birthday to the greatest, kindest, coolest, and most loving dad a girl could ever ask for!

Being exactly thirty years my superior, I have learned quite a few things from my wise father.

Sometimes you just gotta face your fears head-on.
(Or feet-first I suppose.)

Always stand for what you believe in.
(Like 'Merica.
and Mountain Dew.)

Go ahead. Start a trend.
(Be a hipster and break out those trendy Ray-Bans.)

and last, but certainly not least...

Love is unconditional.
(Even if your child is a major chunk.)

I look forward to the many more nuggets of wisdom to come from you, dear 'ol dad!
I LOVE YOU!
and
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

thrifty thursday//ignorance is bliss

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......
 ....
its beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Toys in everyyyyy store
But the prettiest sight to see is the holly that will be
On your ownnnn front dooooooor!

....
....
Wait, what's that?...It isn't December?
But I thought...??
ohhh.....April you say?
...
Well this is awkward...

Moving along then!

Today's Thrifty Thursday completely disregards the blustery weather outside and gives a sneak peek for warmer weather attire; meaning flowy skirts, pretty pastels, and giving our toesies some fresh air.

 fact: cut those bangs myself....

like 5 min before this...

with a pair of kitchen scissors....

Either this was one of the dumbest things I have ever done...
or the most brilliant.
...
naw, I'm just cheap.

 i call this one...flamingo pose.

shall the ombre stay? or should it go?
Theseee are the questions that haunt me.....

tshirt: target. on sale $5.
belt: thrifted. $3
skirt: target clearance. $9.98
sandals:old target (again) clearance. $4.98

Can't wait to actually wear this ensemble when its fairly decent out!
...
Meaning as soon as all this snow melts...
...
Time will tell.

Until next week! Stay Thrifty everyone! :)

where in the world....?

Seeing as my last post below was in early march, I know I got some 'splaining to do.
So where in the world have I been?!

1.  Celebrated two year anniversary with the boyfrann.  Complete with homemade pizza and fort building. The end result....was beyond my wildest 8 year old dreams.

our heart (and uterus?) shaped pizzas.

mid-flour fight. or just powdering my nose.

the aftermath. but still so much "likeeee" <3

our cozy fort and yummy pizzas!
(why yes, those are crutches and dvds holding up our masterpiece.)
(also used: fake christmas tree, hair ties, and two dozen sheets.)

2.  Then I went on spring break with the famjam in Alabama. Rented the cutest beach house with a porch overlooking the ocean. Had coffee every morning on said porch.  Definitely had a hard time leaving that....

(take me back...pleaseeeee)

3.  Work, work, work, school, school, school.  Spring semester is always CRAZY BUSY. Like leave my room at 8 in the morning and not returning until 9 o'clock at night busy.

4.  Working out summer schedules and summer jobs.

5.  Registering at the new school for fall semester!

See?! I told you I was busy!  Even so, I've missed my little blog and am trying to learn how to find a consistent schedule to keep it updated. So for now, bear with me as these posts may irregular for a while...
and just pray these last few weeks of school go by fast...REAL FAST.
